AMERICAN MECHANICAL RIGHTS AGENCY, INC. (AMRA) TO REPRESENT
ISRAELI MUSIC PUBLISHERS AND WRITERS IN USA

(Los Angeles, California) American Mechanical Rights Agency,
Inc. (AMRA) announces an agreement to collect mechanicals on
behalf of ACUM - the official organization representing
Israeli creators and publishers of music and literature. The new
agreement with ACUM is significant in that AMRA will
collect income generated by all mechanical rights including
synchronization and digital usages.
“For artists and songwriters, the only way for them to collect
mechanicals otherwise is to do it directly,” notes Sindee
Levin, AMRA’s President. “Many of the members don’t
have their own publishing companies - it’s not like it is in the
U.S. It’s unusual for songwriters in many parts of the world to
self-publish. If they come into this country and have releases,
if there is no related publishing company, then there is no
mechanism for creators to get paid. AMRA can offer
personal, tailored services and to provide the necessary
attention and time.”
AMRA - who has an associate in Israel - maintains a
worldwide network of affiliates who are familiar with the
languages within the various territories and also their business
protocols. The Los Angeles-based AMRA already represents
Societies including GEMA (Germany); CASH (Hong
Kong) and AUSTRO MECHANA (Austria) for U.S. generated
Synchronization Licenses. Additionally, the organization has
made tremendous gains, collecting in the historically complex
regions of South America and Russia.
“We are very happy to again ensure our members’ rights in the
American market and to have a strong partner like AMRA to
make those rights more easily available,” says Yorik
Ben-David, CEO of ACUM. With responsibilities
covering all aspects of copyright management. ACUM
represents Israeli songwriters, composers, poets, authors,
translators, and music publishers, as well as being the official
representative in Israel for international sister societies
around the world. ACUM's repertoire includes millions of
Israeli and international musical works from the beginning of
the 20th century. The Society protects the rights of almost six
thousand Israeli music and literature creators and, through
agreements with similar organizations in other countries, more
than one million music creators worldwide.
