Hollywood, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 16,
2007 -- Ribkat (http://www.ribkat.com)
and Josy B (http://www.josyb.com)
debuted the first club smash hit single "Red
Rum," produced by J-HEAT, on October 16, 2007. Red Rum
already has airplay in major cities such as London, New
York, Philadelphia, Miami and the Bahamas.
Ribkat
created the well acclaimed Hip Hop group Styles of
Beyond in the early 90'S. As S.O.B continued to gain
success worldwide, they teamed up with Linkin Park
member Mike Shinoda to form the super group Fort Minor.
Since then Ribkat has emerged with a slew of creative
projects. Ribkat is already playing among the heavy
hitters that influence us in every genre of music.
Ribkat has several years of experience under his belt
and has written and produced songs for various artists
known today. Ribkat is known for his unique music
production and his smooth innovative rhyme style. Ribkat
has been currently touring the Projekt Revolution Tour.
Ribkat
wanted to know how the internet helps artists reach
their fans directly, so he contacted his long time
friend Josy B. Josy B has worked with several Grammy
winning writers and producers while singing on several
tracks, including Dr. Dre and Scott Storch. Josy B has
performed at numerous clubs and had her song placed on
the movie "The Sweetest Thing", starring Cameron Diaz
and Christina Applegate. Artists, writers and producers
are usually impressed with her strong work ethic and
love of singing live. Most recently, Josy B started her
own label and publishing company to explore more digital
& mobile distribution opportunities.
The
recording industry wants to motivate consumers for the
holiday selling season to purchase a "ringle" which
contains three songs -- one hit, one remix, one older
track, a ringtone redeem code, packaged on a CD in a
slip sleeve cover. While the leading mobile
entertainment device iPhone charges users an extra buck
to convert a purchased song into a ringtone that only
works on a single phone, it leaves consumers asking for
more. In response Ribkat chose to record with Josy B to
test some of the latest technologies Josy B Music &
Publishing's (http://www.josybmusic.com)
distributor iNTERTAINMENT.NETWORK (http://intertainment.net)
is currently using.
Through
iNTERTAINMENT's research in the digital & mobile
entertainment industry, they incorporate copyright
clearance, copyright protection, metadata, distribution,
airplay monitoring, online tracking and advertising
solutions to find out what consumers want and how they
use it. According to JC Diaz, CEO of iNTERTAINMENT,
"consumer response shows they want to easily create
their own ringtones from music they have legally
purchased and have music videos play in their car's
sound system." Inside sources say that after the Red Rum
Single/Ringtone release, Ribkat and Josy B will be
shooting a music video to offer in the second re-release
along with the instrumental project "The Publik Bizzares"
as a bonus. At $6.98 fans will receive one ringtone, one
hit, one instrumental, one remix, one video, and bonus
tracks -- all online or on a Made-To-Order CD shipped
directly to fans.
Rumor
has it that they will be shooting part of the music
video at the invite-only release party in Hollywood on
Tuesday October 16, 2007. Guests will receive an RSVP
confirmation via mobile along with a complimentary Red
Rum ringtone and wallpaper. Music industry heads are
vying to be on sight just to see the celebrity response.
"A competitive market will always give consumers exactly
what they want," says Josy B. Ribkat responded by
saying, "what matters in this industry now is good music
by good artists...the people will tell you what they
like...soon it will no longer be up to the industry."
